Image Reflecting

Being an image reflector isn't something we do,
it's something we are.

Today our chapel was on the throughline Image Reflecting.

When you look into a mirror, the image of the real person is reflected in the mirror.
It's not the real person in the mirror- you see a reflection.

All the characteristics of God are in us - we are his reflection!
People get an impression of who God is by looking at God's followers - that's us!
The more we are like Christ, the more the light shines in us.

Let's:
Be Kind
Be Faithful
Be Joyful!

Love One Another

Our Grade Three students opened our worship time by playing the song
Joyful, Joyful on their recorders.

This week we were reminded that the Bible tells us that God loves us so much!
And because he loves us so much, we also should love one another.

1 John 4:7-12 says, "My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God’s children, and we know him. 8 God is love, and anyone who doesn’t love others has never known him.

9 God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. 10 Real love isn’t our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.

1 Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other.12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is truly in our hearts.

Our Grade 3 and 7 classes got together and thought about what it looks and sounds like when we are loving to one another. They shared some of their visual representations with us.

Then we got together in our GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) groups in the gym.

We wrote the verse from 1 John 4:16 on the clouds, "God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him."

Each student then wrote a concrete idea or drew a picture of how
s/he could show love to others.

We love to meet with our GIFT group friends from other grades.

How will you show love today?

Wednesday Worship

Once per month our chapel is a worship chapel where we spend some time singing and praising with music, drama or dance, as well as acknowledging any special events happening in our school.

Today, our Grade Two orffestra led our worship with "The King of Glory Comes."

We are also sad to say good bye to our Korean visitor friends. They have been here for many weeks and on Friday are returning home to Korea. We've enjoyed hosting them and getting to know them better!

They shared some thoughts on their visits with us today at chapel:

\We will miss them and wish them God's richest blessings as they return
home to their families and lives in Korea.

God Loves Me!

Our Bible truth this month is that Jesus loves me!
Our grade one students opened our worship time:

We were happy to welcome Pastor Andrew Mills from Bethany Community Church.
He spoke to us about how God loves us just the way we are.

He challenged our younger students to remember, every time they
prayed for their meals, to remember that Jesus loves them just the way they are.

He challenged our older students (and adults!) as well.
He said that as we get older, we can start to compare ourselves with others and wish we were more like them, more.... (athletic, smart, attractive, funny, the list goes on).

He challenged us to think, each time we had one of those comparing thoughts come into our brains, to remind ourselves that God has made us just the way we are and God loves us, just the way he made us.
